 Saving Time For Busy Woodworker
December 2010

A few months ago, Mike Bosley from Creekside Cabinets LLC found he needed to purchase a new bore and dowel machine for his shop.  He had taken the time to do internet research on the different machines available and then contacted the companies he was interested in to schedule demonstrations.  Due to the large amound of work he had coming in, his time was limited so he was pleased to learn about the Delmac LIVE online machine demonstration that was available.

"I had done a lot of research on line and I was familiar with the machine.  It was great to be talking to a knowledgeable person who was able to demonstrate everything while I watched from my office," said Mike Bosley.  "I was able to ask every question I had and have it explained, as well as demonstrated, right ten and there.  I actually got to see the machine working through my question."

"The video quality was excellent and gave me the ability to see close up shots clearly plus I could hear them just like I was talking on the phone.  Like most people in our industry, I don't have time to spend traveling around to different facilities to view machines so this saved me a lot of time and was very close to an in person demonstration.  I would recommend that anyone looking to buy a new machine do some research on the internet and then ask for an online demonstration where they have the ability to fully see the machine without leaving their office."

"Spooky" how technology allows cabinet shop in Missouri to see a live machine demonstration in North Carolina
October 2010

Rich Harding of Harding Cabinets Inc. has been building cabinets for 35 years and thinks it’s "Spooky" how technology has come so far.

"Several years ago I purchased a CNC machine and I had to travel all over the country to get machine demonstrations" said Rich. "This new Delmac LIVE gave me the same quality demonstration that I got when I visited the showrooms and saved me a lot of time and money. Actually, it is better than visiting the showroom because I was able to bring in 3 of my guys to join the demonstration with me. That wouldn’t be possible when traveling because of the cost and time we would have to spend away from the shop."

"We had spent some time researching different machines on the internet and we were very impressed with the quality of information that we found on the machine. The machine specifications were there as well as a lot of videos in the online video library. By the time we scheduled the demonstration, we knew just what questions to ask and knew what we wanted to see. The set up was easy to follow and all of our questions were answered without even leaving the office. If someone had told me 10 or 15 years ago that I could get a machine demonstration from North Carolina while I was sitting in Missouri I wouldn’t have believed it."

OMAL 1550 with Laser
April 2010

The OMAL HBD 1550 boring and doweling machine has a 5' work table and CNC bores, glues and inserts dowels. The machine has a cycle time of approximately ONE second for each bore, glue, and dowel insertion when holes are on 32mm intervals!! Quick Tips For Improving Banding Quality
April 2010

A major cause of undesirable edgebanding quality is a dirty machine. Many times, the primary culprit is glue on copy wheels, shoes and guides. If the machine has been running good quality parts and suddenly begins producing poor quality results, the typical response is for the operator to reach for a wrench and/or an adjustment knob. This results in a downward spiral of adjustments that can take the machine further down the quality scale.  In fact, a better solution would be for the operator to reach for an air hose, rag, and cleaning solvent.

Check the machine thoroughly for excess glue build-up before adjusting!  This is true regardless if you use a roller glue pot or nozzle delivery system.  If glue build-up on the copy systems is an ongoing issue with your machine, here are a couple tips to consider. Check the amount of glue applied to the edge of the panel and make sure the glue applicator is perpendicular to the panel. There should only be a VERY small and equal amount of glue squeeze out on the top and bottom of the panel once the edgebanding is applied.  Some hot melts can be stringy which quickly builds throughout the machine. The scrapers or wipers on the copy wheels should be checked daily to insure they are operating properly plus the copy wheel bearings whould be checked.  Make sure all copy wheels spin freely. The copy wheel wipers should be adjusted or replaced as needed to keep the copy wheels clean. Once the machine has been properly cleaned it should be adjusted according to the manufacturers’ procedures and specifications.  For a complete tip guide on obtaining quality edgebanding, email gyarborough@delmac.com.

TESTIMONIALS:
"We wish to give you a hearty thank you for the timeliness and expert manner in which you responded to our needs. We could not have asked for better service; especially when we asked if the parts we needed could be on the next flight. It is impressive to think the President of the company would be willing to go out of his way and take a part to the airport; that a Service Manager would be willing to turn around and come back to the office and find a part and that a Parts Manager would get out of bed early to take the part to the airport. Thanks Again!"
