Bruewer Woodwork Mfg. Co. has completed custom projects for some of the nation’s most recognized names in retailing, restaurants, health care and numerous other commercial clients. Today, the Cleves, OH based company’s 165,000 sq.ft. of production space is equipped to take on the production of wood. and plastic laminate cases, cabinets, moldings, furniture, wall trims, doors, industrial parts, custom millwork and more. That’s light years away from its beginnings in 1963 when August Bruewer first started building cabinets and furniture in the basement of his home after he arrived in the U.S. from his native land of West Germany.

In the 84 years that East Bay Fixture Co. has been in operation, it has not only watched the world change but its product offering as well. 

The Oakland, Calif.-based company, which still operates out of the same facility as when it opened in 1923, started as a manufacturer of check stands, display shelving and refrigerated fixtures for the then emerging supermarket industry.

Millwork Company Serves It Up Lean

A division of Source One Distribution, the newly formed The Millwork Co. is living up to its name as a top panel processing source for branded restaurant fixtures and components. 

Restaurant supplier Source One Distribution gives new meaning to the term “fast service.” Less than a year after owner Scott O’Hara first conceived a plan to make Source One vertically integrated by bringing all wood component manufacturing in-house, the company: created a new division, The Millwork Co.; leased 70,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space in a nearby facility; purchased all new state-of-the-art machinery; hired and trained 36 employees, then implemented lean manufacturing

From plant design to production Delmac delivers a total package

“Our goal has always been to be a lean, fast-throughput, high-volume facility since we started operations in March, 2006,” says Mark Bennett, director of operations for The Millwork Company, a division of Source One Distribution. The Albuquerque, N.M.-based manufacturer produces fixture packages for large restaurant chains. 
“This was a super-fast startup from obtaining a facility to buying machinery to staffing,” explains Bennett.
